We, wedding dress, feature our share of classic, beachy and backyard weddings on the blog, but I’m kind of loving this Western-inspired shindig from Joshua Caine in Parkfield, California. The bride’s ruffly frock from Timeless Vixen is one part vintage, another part flirty and all-around delicious. Love, love, love the rustic feel of the bride’s ensemble (thanks to that kick-butt awesome pair of distressed cowboy boots) as well as the subtly glamorous touches, courtesy of Dominique’s birdcage veil and red nail polish. What do you think of the bride’s hand-wrapped bouquet from Lori Boe? I’ve recently become, Wedding Special Offers, obsessed with heirloom brooch accents and may even want to incorporate this into my own wedding. Any other great tips for designing one-of-a-kind bouquets you'd be willing to share?
How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story. Taylor and I met at a mutual friend's wedding. Taylor had to leave early, but he interrupted my conversation with another guy to ask for my number before he left. I knew he was classy :)
Describe the proposal. One lazy Sunday, Taylor and I were enjoying hours of lounging when he got a phone call from his brother asking if we would like to go on a private plane ride with a family friend the following day. I was told that this family friend (Dave) needed to take it up in order to keep it maintainanced. Pilot Dave had called to offer the free flight to Taylor's brother and his wife, but they weren't able to make it. After hours of begging, I agreed to the spontaneous flight, banking on the fact that I would have to "work late" and miss the near death experience. (Little did I know, Taylor had already coordinated with my work to ensure that this excuse was not an option.) I began rehearsing new excuses to get out of flying, but the childlike excitement of my boyfriend about to enjoy an, Wedding Dresses Sale, adventure in the sky made it impossible to say no. Pilot Dave suggested we fly over the new piece of land Taylor had recently purchased. As we flew over this little patch of land, my eyes narrowed on what appeared to be letters: “Marry me, Dom Dom". As I read the words, my heart began to race again. Only this time, it wasn't my fear of flying. In my plane headset I heard Pilot Dave ask what my answer was. Somehow through the screeching, “I managed to squeak out a '"yes". We toasted with champagne and enjoyed the rest of our flight. And just like that, we were engaged!
Three adjectives that describe the day are: Whimsical, quirky and fun!
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: All the little details! The ‘52 Chevy used as a guest book... the cigarette tree… all of the unique trinkets collected for centerpieces... the unique setting of Parkfield... our HUGE toasting glasses... the Photobooth... karaoke… the list goes on. It would be impossible for us to pick just one detail because all of the time and thought we put in to every detail is what made our day so special and unique.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: Finding my weddings dresses really wasn't a huge ordeal. I knew that I wanted a dress from the 50's so I looked a lot on e-bay and random different vintage sites that I discovered. I ended up finding a website called Timeless Vixen. They don't specialize in wedding dresses, but they have some beautiful vintage items. I immediately fell in love with a dress that fit the picture I had in my mind. I ordered the dress and that's the one I wore.
Monday, March 1st is the deadline to enter the Brion Hopkins giveaway for a chance to win a spectacular wedding photography package and a spot on the Southern Weddings Blogsite!
It, wedding dresses, seems like you girls like gold + pearl jewelry as much as I do, which is awesome for our contest sponsor, Erin McDermott, (because, let’s be honest: she’s pretty awesome) but bad for me since I was hoping to steal some of these pieces myself.
Anyway. If you were buzzing around the blog last week, you probably saw that Erin was giving away two pairs of earrings, the Whitney and the Lucky Penny). Our lovely SW brides-to-be wrote in to tell us which of Erin’s many gorgeous pieces would best convey her unique style, and we’re happy to report that the winners are in! These lucky ladies were hand-picked by Erin herself.
Of course, it’s only appropriate that the Whitney earrings be gifted to their namesake, Whitney, who wrote:
"I la la la looooove the "Whitney" earrings! Long Sleeve Mother Dresses, When I first saw them in the pos,t I said "Omg! Wow!" When I visited Erin’s site, I realized they were named after me! How more my style can they be? It's as if they were created for me. It would be a great gift for my bridesmaids to wear in my wedding! And I'm not going to a lie: I will definitely have to get myself a pair. They are perfect because you can dress them up for a night out or a wedding, or dress them down with a fabulous pair of jeans. I love things that are versatile and classic... the definition of my style!"
And like Erin herself, the winner of the Lucky Penny earrings will be getting married at a Vineyard in our home state of Virginia. Congratulations, Annie!
"My wedding is going to be held at a rustic vineyard in the countryside of Virginia. My mother is sewing my dress and my engagement ring was my great-grandmother's. While I consider myself a modern and fashionable young woman, the traditional and rustic ties that these elements will bring to my wedding are very me as well. Erin McDermott's jewelry is gorgeous and unique!"
Thank you to all our readers who participated in this giveaway and especially to my dear friend, Erin McDermott, for sharing your incredible work, Cocktail Dresses, with us!

There’s, weddings dresses, something about Joshua Caine’s soft and subdued images that are spot-on perfect for Dominique + Taylor’s California shindig. The eclectic, mix-and-match details from the couple’s reception (the bridesmaids’ coordinated Betsey Johnson dresses and mismatched place settings) were a great way for the newlyweds to sprinkle a little personality into their celebration. The too-cute two-tiered cake (complete with owl toppers) was a joint work of love from the mothers (of the bride + groom, that is.) And yes, folks: the 1952 Chevy was, in fact, what Dominique + Taylor used as their guest “book.” I want that for my own wedding! Well, maybe not a ’52 Chevy, but something equally unique and memorable. I’m guessing you're probably hope to see more from this West Coast affair. (Don't worry: we do, too!)
Describe your wedding flowers: Our flowers were very simple and understated, but added so much. Because of all the other details on our tables and the natural decor that our venue offered, we wanted very simple flowers that fit within our theme. Lori Boe, who did the flowers, completely read my mind. Everything she created was as if I had done it myself. We had collected some containers through flea markets, swap meets and garage sales. I gave them to Lori and she filled them with dalias, garden roses, feathers and all sorts of magical things. My bouquet was a mixture of soft whites. She filled it with, Floor Length Mother Dresses, garden roses and gardenias. The bridesmaids honored my grandmother by carrying a single stem of her favorite flower, the gardenia.
Describe your wedding cake: Our cake was made by my mom. It was made from an amazing, very exclusive recipe called, "funfetti!” She decorated it with lace and our monogram. It was only a little cake for display so we would have something to cut. For the groom's cake, my mom made tiny felt bride and groom owls wearing a birdcage veil and suspenders that sat on the top of the cake.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? There were definitely a few obstacles to overcome! The biggest challenge was trying to move out table settings for 350 people an hour and a half from where we live! We really had to coordinate getting everything out that far.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? Any and everything. Our plan is to have no plans, Floor Length Mother Dress, because then we are always ready for whatever opportunity presents itself.
Less than a week left to enter the Brion Hopkins giveaway for a chance to win a wedding photography package! You don't want to miss this one.
Welcome, wedding dress, back to another spectacular Wanwisa Wednseday!
It's wet and cold here in NYC and all I can think about is my recent trip to The Maldives. So this Wednesday, I want to share some photos and links with all you brides and grooms out there who are planning a spectacular honeymoon!
The Maldives, located just off the coast of Sri Lanka is not a short flight away but, once you're there, the gorgeous collection of thousands of islands and hundreds of romantic and posh resorts will take your breath away and make the 20 plus hour journey well worth it (I promise!!!). It's one of the best diving spots in the world and with, Knee Length Flowergirl Dress, rooms almost three times larger than any other tropical honeymoon locations - it's one of the most romantics spots ever.
So here they are, photos from three different resorts I visited (Shangrila Villingili, Huvafen Fushi and The One and Only Reethi Rah). If you want to plan a honeymoon to The Maldives, Lindsey Wallace of Linara travel is the man for you - not only has he been to almost all the resorts (some numberous times, lucky!) but he also scores the best deals and can recommend the most romantic activities - a massage in an underwater treatment room, a private beach BBQ right in front of your beach villa or a sunset cruise to a remote island where you can sip some bubbly and play Robinson Crusoe.

But wait, there's more! You still have time to ask the SW girls absolutely anything. This is your chance to discover our likes and dislikes, Informal Bridal Dresses, our fears and our aspirations, our favorite movies and our pet peeves. Use your imagination! We will be answering your questions LIVE.
Tune in tomorrow at 4 p.m. for the live auction to find out who will be spending an hour with the one, the only Lara Casey. Oh, and you'll get to find out how we respond to your questions. It is sure to be an adventure.
