weddings dresses, their traditional nuptials with a fun

Stacie + Todd toasted, weddings dresses, their traditional nuptials with a fun, more mod-ish celebration at the San Diego W Hotel.  We had a good laugh at the portraits the couple took in front of the ultra-believable seaside backdrop.  (The beach balls definitely made the shot, S + T!)  Angel Swanson of Love and Splendor planned the California wedding, and Elizabeth Harris of Elizabethan Desserts supplied the array of sweet (and color-coordinated!) treats.  For shots from the newlyweds' "crazybooth," visit the Kaisers’ blog post here at The Image is Found.

Our favorite detail of the wedding was:  Our ceremony and reception were at the W Hotel in San Diego.  Since our last name is (now) “Malkus”, I turned the “W” from the hotel logo upside down and made it into an “M” for us.  I even got the employees to wear their “W” belts and pins upside down!

Three adjectives that describe the day are: Modern, beachy and fun.

What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding?  Start planning early and hire a day-of coordinator! Angel Swanson, Spaghetti Straps Flowergirl Dresses, ensured everything was flawless the entire day and was an absolute joy to work with.

What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future?

A few more surf trips around the world and maybe some kids after that.  (Yes, mom, dad and everyone else in the family: you can stop asking!)

Congratulations, Stacie + Todd!  We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness.

wedding dress, y'all! We thought we'd switch up

Hey, wedding dress, y'all!  We thought we'd switch up our usual affair of real weddings on Thursdays for a few weeks to bring you some other fun features.  It'll be a little bit different every week, but we hope you love!

Up first?  Something I've dubbed "Southern by Design."  With every installment we'll take something quintessentially Southern (this week, cotton blossoms) and show you ways to incorporate it into your wedding.

I think cotton is the perfect place to start due to its Southern roots, its flexible form, and its inexpensive price.  I love the look of cotton boll boutonnieres, whether fluffy, raw, or mixed with winterberries or balsa wood flowers.

They're also beautiful in bouquets.  I'm no expert, but aside from being lovely, I'm guessing this would be a more cost-conscious option than traditional blooms.

Even if you don't go hog-wild with cotton details at your ceremony or reception, scouting out a field in full bloom for portraits can add the, Scoop Neckline Mother Dresses, perfect Southern accent to your album.

Cotton blossoms make a fabulous, inexpensive styling filler.  I love the wood and cotton mix in the top left image -- such a luxe look for a great price.  Bolls can also make a perfect nest for a ring shot, or stand-in for a single bloom at each place setting.  But my absolute favorite idea?  I'd have to say the cotton blossom garlands that lined the aisle at Kristin and Brandon's wedding.  Absolute genius!

And how about this gorgeous inspiration shoot from Style Me Pretty to finish things off?  Love that the talented team paired organic cotton and burlap with dreamy, girly pastels.  Perfect!

Anyone planning on incorporating cotton into their wedding?  Have another idea we haven't covered here?  I'd love to hear about it!  Also, if there's a particular element you'd like to see included in a future installment of Southern by Design, just leave a, Couture Bridal Dress, comment below.

weddings dresses, makes me happy

Yellow, weddings dresses, makes me happy.  And so does the bride’s red hair :)  Alexandra, in lemon yellow Luxury Rebel Chita pumps, and Josh, in matching Chuck Taylors, exchanged vows at the Four Oaks Manor in Hamilton, Georgia.  We smiled when we saw that the bridesmaids + groomsmen also got in on the yellow trend with their own shoes!  The bride wore an embellished Alfred Angelo gown + simple tulle veil.  2010 is all about bows (my wedding dress   has one or two itself!), and if you look hard you can see the back bow detailing on Alexandra’s dress.  What do you think of the bow trend?  Check back soon for more images from the husband and wife duo at Scobey Photography!

How did the two of you meet?  Tell us your story. We met at Georgia Tech in the Music Listening Room where Josh was working. I thought Josh was cute, and asked his name, but he wouldn’t tell me! He claims he didn’t know I was talking to him. Some of the other employees just gave me hints - like his name starts with J - and made me guess. The next semester, I got a job at the MLR, too, and arranged my schedule to be almost the same as Josh’s. It took a few months, but we finally went on our first date in March of 2003.

Three adjectives that describe the day are: Fun, relaxed and perfect.

Our favorite detail of the wedding was: A-Line Bridal Dress, Josh’s favorite part was the food and, of course, our guests.

Tell us about finding your wedding dress: I was a two-dress bride. Since our engagement lasted just under four months, I had to find a dress fast. I tried on about 11 dresses with my mom around Christmas, and had to make a decision that day. I ended up buying a beautiful dress that just wasn’t me. So in late February, after much debate, Josh offered to buy the dress I really wanted from Alfred Angelo. He was willing to drive to any of the surrounding states looking for a store with my size in-stock! It turns out my local store had a NEW sample in my size and was willing to sell it to me. Even with slight alterations, the dress was ready with two weeks to spare. I LOVED my dress. The pockets were the main feature I just knew I had to have. If I could wear the dress everyday, I would.

Describe your wedding flowers: Wild, simple and perfect. We used a lot of daisies and spray flowers in yellows and whites. The bouquets were loose and natural. Laurens Floral Art gave me everything I wanted, including peonies in my bouquet! We never met in person before the wedding, but he really picked up on my vision and pulled it together while staying, Ball Gown Flowergirl Dresses, within my budget.
